Kim Kardashian- Matte Black Nails

Kim Kardashian- Matte Black Nails

I am a massive fan of instagram and I absolutely love following the Kardashians. I follow all of their real accounts and often they post images of their nails. I have chosen to recreate these nails because a) It's Kim Freakin' Karshian's nails and b) because I think they're pretty cool

Most of the time Kim takes a close ups of her nails, which is good for her fans because we can get a better view of them and attempt them ourselves. She often poses as well, this shows us how these nails correspond with her outfit, as well as her arm full of gold the colour adds glamour and sophistication to the look.

To anyone who is interested in the Kardashians I would highly recommend following them on instagram or twitter. The Kardashians show off so many pictures from their everyday lives. Their profiles are very personal and they often give tips or ideas for make up, fashion and nails.

Okay so I started off using the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Strengthener as my base coat to protect my nails from colour staining and damage. I have used a black nail polish, it's not a branded one, I have no idea where it was from but you can get black nail polish pretty much anywhere (even Primark)! I painted all of my nails black and allowed to dry completely. I often use a cocktail stick to scrape away all of the excess polish from around my nails. I then used Rimmel Pro Matte Finish to coat all of my nails, this appears to be shiny but then dries and mattifies the below colour. I love the matte finish as it can be used on any nail colour and also works as a protective top coat.
Many others who have recreated these nails have used nail stencils. I originally was going to use them in my video, however, I tried them and they just stuck to my nail polish and striped it all off. Overall, the stencils where too much effort so I decided to use my Models Own Black Nail Art Pen. After looking at Kim's picture I believe that she has used a nail pen rather than stencils as the tips on her nails aren't all even. I found the nail pen so much easier and quicker compared to the stencils. Others may not agree, but if you're like me and find doing your nails a major fuss I would definitely suggest that a nail art pen is the way forward!

Apologises for the quality of the video again! However, I thought I'd make a quick video just to visually show you how I've done these.

These nails are perfect for any occasion, they're simplistic but can add so much to an outfit. I love matte nails but I love them more with contrasting tips. I have only done these in black because I wanted to achieve the same style as Kim Kardashian, however, these can be done is any possible colour you could think off. If you do decide to try these out in a different colour and you have instagram then take a photograph and tag me '@emilyjadecounte', I would love to see.
Thankyou.

Carnival Nails

Carnival Nails

Late last night I was rather bored and couldn't sleep so I decided to try and make a youtube video. Apart from this video I have only ever made one other video, but that was for a university project! I hope you'll understand that this video is obviously a little rusty!

What I Have Used

Before I put anything on my nails I massage them with Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, this helps keeps cuticles in good shape and prevents skin flaking around the nails. I have then coated my nails in Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Strengthener, this is because my nails getting very weak and often flake, this polish solves all of these problems and also makes an amazingly smooth base coat. I have chosen to use models own blooboo for the main base colour of my Carnival Nails, the lightness of the colour contrasts strongly with Rimmel London Hot Shot pink and the Technic Carnival glitter. I have finished with O.P.I Top Coat as I highly praise this topcoat in terms of anti-chipping.

Here is the video, it is on youtube as Carnival Nails! The video isn't very good quality or standard but I don't have a technical camera or anything like that, I have just used my webcam, so all I can do is apologise for that! I didn't find to too difficult to make a video so if you feel that you have designs or ideas that you would like to show people I would definitely recommend giving this a try!

I know these are the most exciting nails, but I was bored and tired and just wanted to try something quick and easy for my first video recording. Even so, these are quite nice just for everyday wear for spring/summer or for a night out to contrast with a plain dress.
The main aspect of these nails is the contrast, so you could experiment with different base colours just as long as that all contrast each other in a crazy carnival kind of style!
